Having graduated from the first ever Oenology course in what was then the IUTAD technical college in 1984, he was employed at Sandeman in 1986. When UTAD acquired university status, he went back to completehis Oenology degree. He was then employed by Barros Almeida and taught winemaking for four years at Amarante’s Escola Profissional de Vitivinicultura.
He then worked at IVP for three years as a taster and taught Sensory Evaluation I and II as part of the UTAD Oenology degree.
He started his first business in 1997, the Loja dos Vinhos, in Braga, still going strong today.
In 2001, he founded Duplo PR – Winemaking Services Ltd, which he manages and co-partners with the winemaker Filipa Pizarro.
Duplo PR is a consultancy providing technical winemaking services. It was a response to the requirements of small producers who are unable to afford a full-time winemaker, for whom Duplo PR offers winemaking consultancy on a budget.
Focusing the technical aspects of winemaking, Duplo PR’s motto is “Knowing and Doing”. Our goal is adding quality and value to our clientele’s wines.
